Today
At dawn the city comes alive
Awake from sleepy quiet night
Where once silence only filled by tears
Now filled with sounds of birds of sky
And cars on roads as they rush by
And children walk with books to school
The moon her vigil almost through
Soon streetlights will bid good morn to day
For some a ritual this morning pray
And cars race down once empty streets again
I bid goodbye to long sad night my lonely friend
No more lonesome tears I will cry today
For tears are saved for night and not this day |
